Reception: Friday, April 28, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Et al. presents LIMB II, a group show curated by CLUB CHAI with works by Tim Zha/Organ Tapes, Sahar Khoury, Sofía Córdova, Esra Canoğulları and Lara Sarkissian.

LIMB II addresses diasporic perspectives and the ways artistic practices exist as an extension of the body. Thinking through these extensions as an armor, a surrogate, prothetic or shape-shifting device for bodies whose stability and safety are constantly at risk.

LIMB II asks questions about surface and abstraction—how can the multiplicities of formal representation be a strategy for survival? How do diasporic people shift in geographies of tension? Can abstraction be used as a process for navigating distance and space? What is the significance of non Western artifacts and archives in the West? These artists' interdisciplinary practices generate abstractions of their identities through mutations of ancestral traditions and histories.
